Tax Analyst


We are actively seeking to hire an experienced Tax Analyst to support our U.S. offices! This position will be based in our Makati offices working in our shared services group. The Tax Analyst will prepare weekly and month taxes, generate reports and work on special department projects for various locations. Some experience and knowledge in United States and Canadian tax rules and regulations is a plus. OBS-Philippines is a growing BPO organization that presently provides back office support to its offices throughout North America.

-----Job Description-----

  • The Tax Analyst is responsible for day-to-day tax compliance functions which include:
  • Prepare US & Canada monthly state sales and use tax schedules using the excel sales tax report.
  • Prepare US & Canada monthly state sales and use tax returns.
  • Analyze and reconcile monthly sales and use balance sheet tax accounts and General Ledger accounts.
  • Compile information for State sales and use tax audits.
  • Assist with correspondence and written inquiries, notices from State sales tax authorities.
  • Assist other members of Tax Department with special projects as needed.
  • Assist in sales tax research.

-----Requirements / Qualifications-----

  • 4 year College Degree required; preferably in Accounting, tax courses and CPA certification a plus!
  • 2 years minimum experience in tax preparation experience.
  • Ability to handle difficult, clients, employees and situations
  • Ability to communicate with clients
  • Knowledge of tax rules pertaining to leasing transactions a plus.
  • Understanding of corporate or VAT tax laws
  • Experience in tax research and writing.
  • Public Accounting or multi-national firm experience a plus
  • Advanced analytical ability
  • Service Industry experience a plus
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines
  • Must have strong analytical skills
  • Must be able to learn and understand US & Canada sales tax rules
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Efficient, well organized and detail oriented
  • Excellent Communication Skills in English both verbal and written
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work will all levels of staff and has pleasant interpersonal skills
  • Good Team Player
  • Work overtime when required
